Pitch perfect day as generous guests raise funds for local charity VSA
On Saturday 9th March we welcomed over 400 guests to Pittodrie for the second Ladies Day event of this season. We added a touch of glamour to the match-day experience as we wrapped up the thrills and spills of 90 minutes on the pitch with classic cocktails courtesy of Malmaison and a fabulous fashion taster from our partners Warehouse.
To celebrate the occasion Aberdeen Football Club joined forces with VSA, the biggest social care charitable body in the North East, to help this organisation maintain their remit of providing the best of care to the more vulnerable people in Aberdeen City and Shire.
VSA was established more than 140 years ago to help its local community live the most independent and fulfilling lives possible. Its work falls into three main categories: education and lifelong learning, older people services and social care and wellbeing, incorporating carers’ services. There really is something everyone can relate to: VSA supports newborn babies, toddlers, young children, teenagers, young adults and older adults.
Thanks to the tremendous generosity of our guests during Ladies Day, £4,300 was raised on behalf of VSA. A signed AFC shirt exclusively designed with the VSA logo was auctioned during the match with funds also being raised from a raffle and a heads and tails game.
Debbie Fotheringham, events and fundraising co-ordinator at VSA, said: “The whole day was fantastic and we were absolutely delighted with the funds raised by AFC’s generous and glamorous guests.People holding events on our behalf is wonderful. It’s an amazing gesture and the awareness we can raise through it is incredible. It really is support like this from local people that means VSA can keep improving life for the most vulnerable people in the north-east.This huge amount will make a big difference to so many lives locally. It’s been a great pleasure and privilege to work closely with AFC on this and we’re looking forward to continuing the strong VSA and AFC relationship.”
We would like to thank all our generous partners and guests for helping to make this year’s event such a success.
