Adam netted his fifth goal in six games with his penalty against Celtic. You needed someone with a very cool head in those types of situations and there are not many better suited than Adam. “It was a great result. We had had a good start to the season with five straight wins so we knew Saturday was going to be a big game. We went into it wanting to set down a marker for the rest of the campaign. Playing Celtic, we knew it would be a very difficult game, as it proved to be, but everyone was delighted to get the win.

“A lot was made beforehand of the fact we had not beaten Celtic last season. We knew we could do it as I was part of the team two seasons ago that beat them twice. The games last season were all fairly close and it was especially disappointing as a couple of them could have gone our way. Even the game we lost 4-0 at Parkhead, we played well for the first hour or so. So we knew we could win.

“Saturday was similar to a number of the close games last season, particularly the game at Pittodrie when they had the man sent off and scored a late goal. Thankfully we managed to do the same today and came out winners of what was a tight game.

“We were disappointed to go in at half time 1-0 down because we had played well. We felt we could have had a couple of goals ourselves as we missed a couple of good chances, so we came out wanting to start the second half strongly and get on the front foot and we did that. Graeme Shinnie won the penalty and thankfully I was able to slot it home.

“That gave us a bit of momentum until the sending off. That was very disappointing as I did not think it was a sending off. That knocked us back a bit but we dug in and Paul Quinn popped up to score the winner – a customary shin from Quinny I think it was! I am not sure the ball went where he was aiming but they all count, as I know well!

“No, seriously, I am delighted for him as he came back into the side and played very well. He is a leader, a good organiser and a good guy to have in your team. It was a great ball from Niall for the goal too. I thought we looked dangerous from set pieces all day and the delivery from Niall and Jonny was excellent throughout.

“It is nice to set records with the sixth win in a row but more importantly it shows that we are continuing to improve. We will look to extend that run now but we know the game tonight will be another tough one and we will need to put in another good performance if we are going to come away with another three points”.
