The club announced on Monday that Adam Rooney & Niall McGinn were among a quartet of players to sign contract extensions and they spoke to the media on Tuesday
Niall McGinn
“The gaffer pulled me into his office a couple of weeks ago and explained the situation and explained there was another year for me if I wanted it. It was a no brainer for me to get it done and dusted and get the contract signed.
“This is a great club and I am enjoying being here. Since I came here I loved every moment – winning the league cup, playing on a regular basis which has enabled me to get my career back on track again. That has helped with my international career as well.
“It is great to see Adam signing as well. He is a close friend. I sit beside him in the changing room and we spend a lot of time together so I am pleased he has signed as well. It is good to see the young boys getting signed as well.
“Hopefully there are good times ahead.
“I always knew Aberdeen was a big club when I first arrived even though we were not doing that well. The manager has got the club to back to a level it should be at and we have progressed massively. We have progressed every season and hopefully we will continue to do so.
“It is an enjoyable place to play your football at the moment.
“We are on a good little run at the moment. We have got our consistency back and hopefully we can keep that going during the festive fixtures. It has been a slightly frustrating spell for me as I keep hitting the woodwork. I will keep working hard and hopefully the goals will come for me. Although I have not scored as many goals, I think this season is the best so far for assists.”

Adam Rooney
“I have really enjoyed my time since I came here. It has been a good time for the club as well. Since I have arrived everything has been very positive. Everyone is very positive around the club and the city. I was very happy to sign a new deal.
“The gaffer spoke to me and made it clear he wants to keep this group of players together. It is good for the future that we have a couple of the lads signed on longer term deals.
“You do not want to be at a club where players are coming and going during every transfer window, where there are always new faces appearing in the dressing room. Even during the summer there, we only had a few new boys coming in and I think that is why we managed to build on last season and hopefully we can continue to improve during the rest of this campaign and beyond.
“In terms of goals per games this is the best form I have probably been in. When I was at Inverness a couple of years ago I had a good run as well. Hopefully I can build on what I have done so far this season.”
