Dons confirm loan signing of Welsh Internationalist
The Club this afternoon confirms the loan signing of Bristol City attacker Marley Watkins.
With three recognised first team strikers currently out due to injury, Welsh Internationalist Marley joins the Dons on a short-term deal until January to provide some much-needed cover.
The experienced 29-year-old, who started his career in England, spent two seasons in Scotland at Inverness CT, before returning south to play for Barnsley and Norwich City. He arrives in time to be added to the squad for our match against Livingston tomorrow, subject to clearance.
Manager Derek McInnes was happy to secure a player of Marley’s stature.
“I’m really pleased to get a player of Marley’s quality and experience to the Club.
“Clearly, we have not had our troubles to seek in terms of injuries, particularly to our strikers, so it was important to get a player in who can help bolster our options in that area.
“We have a number of important fixtures coming up before the International break and a strong squad will be vital so I must thank the Board for supporting the addition of Marley, despite the financial restrictions currently placed on the Club.
“Having tried hard to get him here previously I’m really pleased to now have the opportunity to work with him and I’m sure he will do well for us.”
The forward, who will wear squad number 50, joined his new teammates at Cormack Park today and before doing so spoke to RedTV. To watch the interview please click here.
Everyone at the Club welcomes Marley to AFC and wishes him all the best during his stay in the North-east.
