“With two midfielders going off on Saturday it did leave us unbalanced at times.
“I was the only natural centre midfielder. The other boys were more forward thinking players.
“It is part of football. It is part of the game. We had a lot of defensive injuries at the start of the season and now we have a lot of midfielders out.
“We just have to get back into training this week and hopefully the injury situation is not as bad as first feared.
“We just need to stick together and try and get through it and get everyone back as soon as possible.
“Despite the injuries, at home we fancy our chances against anybody, especially on Saturday we fancied our chances.
“Every home game, no matter who we are playing against we fancy ourselves to go and get three points. It was disappointing. We lost a really slack goal, but we looked really comfortable in the first half and the second half simply wasn’t good enough.
“In the first half we got the goal and were playing well. Then we give away the goal. I don’t think O’Halloran catches his shot right and that is what probably makes it harder for Joe. He did say in the changing room, with his standards he was disappointed with it. He thought he could have saved it.
“We had a good chat at half-time.
“We had to go out in the second half and perform and try and get the three points but we did not managed to do it.
“We got dragged into the way St Johnstone like to play. In is not pretty but it effective for them. They play percentages and get the ball forward and it is quite stop start. There were a lot of fouls and the ball is out of play a lot. It is difficult to play against and they are very effective.
“It was my assist for Ryan’s goal!
“The ball dropped in between Greg and I and we both went for it. Greg has hit the ball off my foot and it managed to go through to Ryan.
“I wasn’t going to take the free-kick (in the final minute) it to start with, I thought it was too far out but as it was the last couple of minutes I thought I might as well take it on. The keeper has made a really good save, it nicked off the St Johnstone players shoulder and if it had been another yard to the side he might have not have got it. These things can either go your way or not and on Saturday it didn’t.
“It will be tough, three away games at difficult venues coming up.
“We will come back in again on Monday and the boys that picked up a few knocks, hopefully they will be fit for these games because they are really important players so hopefully, they are back fit and available soon.
“It was a good international break for Connor and myself with two good results but the result in Croatia was excellent. They are the top seeded team in that group, and they were at the European Championships in the summer. They are a top-quality side and a few of their players are worth millions. For us to go and get a result over there was very encouraging.”
