I just want to get cracking with playing my football again

Aberdeen made their tenth signing of the summer with the arrival of attacking midfielder Jamie McGrath on Tuesday. Jamie has experience of playing in Scotland with St Mirren and Dundee United and was delighted to be able to make the way back north after leaving Wigan Athletic this summer.

“It was a difficult time at Wigan, and the summer hasn’t been easy but now I just want to get cracking with playing my football again. It took a few weeks to get things resolved but once I knew Aberdeen was an option for me, I couldn’t wait to get here.

“I’m delighted how things have worked out and hopefully now I can get settled here, live in the city and play some good football. I’m really looking forward to the two years ahead and hopefully it’s going to be successful. I’ve been close to coming here a couple of times over the years and for whatever reason, it didn’t happen before, but I’m absolutely delighted to be here now.

“It’s a great set up here, a really nice training ground with lovely facilities, probably the best that I’ve been to so far in my career, so as a player it’s really nice walking into that environment where there’s everything there, the pitches look in great nick as well, it’s a brilliant platform.

“Obviously I’ve played here before and as a player, you always look forward to coming to Pittodrie, so the chance of playing there week in, week out is really exciting. To have that passion from the fans behind you as a home player, it’s something that I will relish and hopefully I can repay the faith that the club has shown in me. I hope I can hit the ground running.”
