Ten-time capped senior Northern Ireland international Toni Leigh Finnegan joined Aberdeen Women in January 2025. The 23-year-old from Belfast joined from NIFL Premiership champions Cliftonville, where she has spent her entire career prior to joining the Dons. The holding midfielder was an integral part of the side that claimed a domestic treble last season. Finnegan made her senior debut for Northern Ireland in March 2020 and was part of the group that emerged victorious from their Euro 2022 play-off against Ukraine, only missing out on the squad for the tournament through injury. The midfielder got a taste of continental club football when her Cliftonville side played European giants Benfica in a Champions League qualifying match in 2023 – Finnegan claiming an assist on the night in Lisbon. She made her Aberdeen debut against Hibernian in the Semi-final of the Sky Sports Cup.
