Aberdeen Women landed a major boost ahead of the 2025/26 season with the addition of Chelsea goalkeeper Katie Cox on a season-long loan. 19-year-old Cox has represented Chelsea since the age of eight and signed her first professional contract with the club in August 2024. During her time in the academy set up, Cox became the first ever recipient of the Chelsea FC Women’s Academy Player of the Year Award. Although the young ‘keeper is yet to feature for the first team, Cox spent 24/25 as a part of the treble winning Chelsea’s travelling party, as well as being part of the match-day squad for their Champions League Semi-final against Barcelona the season prior, providing back up to recent Euros winner Hannah Hampton. Away from her club career, Cox is a regular fixture of the England U19 set up, playing every match on their journey to the U19 Euros Semi-final in 2024.
