Ryan has been with the club since the age of nine and has worked his way up through the Youth Academy. Born in Keig, near Alford and a former pupil of Alford Academy, he made his first team debut in November 2020 at Ibrox against Rangers. After a successful loan spell at Peterhead in the 2021/22 season, Ryan was promoted by manager Jim Goodwin to the AFC first team squad ahead of the 2022/23 season. Ryan scored his first ever Aberdeen goal when he scored the fifth in front of the Red Shed in our 5-0 victory over Livingston in August 2022. He made his debut for the Scotland U21 side, coming on as a second-half substitute in a friendly match against Wales in March 2023. In August 2024, Ryan joined Scottish Championship side Queen's Park on a season long loan. In September 2025, Ryan joined Ross County on a season long loan.
