The Bulgarian International arrived at Pittodrie from St Johnstone for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2024. Although born in Bulgaria, Dimitar has spent almost all of his professional career in the United Kingdom. He spent his earliest days at FC Chavdar Etropole before moving to the Charlton Athletic Academy. He would have four years at the Valley before he moved to Cambridge United and established himself as the number one for the U’s, playing 165 games over six years. A move to St Johnstone followed last summer and the stopper enjoyed an outstanding season for Saints, with his performances being rewarded with 11 awards in total, including Saints’ Player of the Year award. He also made his senior international debut for Bulgaria, starting against Iran in a friendly last September. He made his competitive debut for Aberdeen in a 3-0 Premier Sports victory over Queen of the South in July 2023.
