Blair McKenzie has become the latest U18 player to sign a contract extension keeping him at the Club until 2025.
The 17-year-old defender, who joined the Dons from Edinburgh side Hutchison Vale FC in 2021, has made a big impression this season, putting in some solid defensive displays, whilst also scoring five goals.
AFC Director of Football, Steven Gunn, is pleased to see another promising young talent continue their development at Pittodrie.
He said: “We’re delighted that Blair has extended his contract for a further two years. He’s shown very good progress since joining the club in 2021, with a particularly strong year at U18s this season.
“He’s got very good potential, with the right attributes to be a dominant left-sided centre back. We look forward to seeing how he progresses in the next two years as we strive too to be the best developer of young talent in Scotland.”
There was much interest from elsewhere in the left sided centre-half, but Blair believes Aberdeen is the best place for him to continue his football journey.
He added. “I was very happy when I got offered a new deal. I am loving my football.
“Having the two-year deal gives me some stability and allows me to get my head down and just focus on my football. I know what I need to do and where I need to get to over these next couple of seasons.”
