Stuart Armstrong admitted that the Dons had been thoroughly outplayed in Athens, saying that as a team and as players, they need to learn from a chastening experience.
“It’s a bit raw now, there’s a lot to process, a lot to analyse. I think the short story is that we let ourselves down, made it easier for them than it should have been, and there’s lots to learn. We weren’t in the game, we didn’t fight how we wanted to. They are a very good team but we made them look even better.
“We don’t want to just come to the Conference League and be happy to be a part of it. We want to bring good performances and get some points. But it was a tough night, a learning game, one that needs to be character building.
“We need to learn from it. That’s the take home. The last couple of games have been good. That’s probably what’s most disappointing. We’ve come off the back of two good performances, good wins. To then produce a performance like that is disappointing.
“Everyone’s professional. Things like this happen throughout your career. I’ve been there a number of times that we’ve beaten heavily at other clubs. During those times you need to think about what went wrong, think about how you can improve as a player and as a team, to make sure that the next time around you’re a bit more experienced and that you can correct things in-game.
“Sunday was always important regardless, but probably it’s a little bit more after this because we have a point to prove.”
