Participants from Woodside Juniors Club paid a visit to Pittodrie for a stadium tour last week to celebrate the half-way mark of their 12-week programme with Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT).

Not only did the group enjoy a tour of Pittodrie, they participated in a football session involving mini- drills, which was all planned, set-up and delivered by the young people themselves!

AFCCT work in partnership with ADA (Alcohol and Drugs Action) to deliver a programme at Woodside Community Centre on healthy lifestyle choices and improving physical activity levels.

The project involves people aged 5-14 and offers an hour-long football participation session for the younger participants while the older age group take part in a lifestyle education session.

Dean McBain Community Projects Officer said, “The session at Woodside is great for everyone involved, when setting up the programme we wanted to involve everyone using the 'Woodside Juniors' group, not just a targeted group. During our time so far the group have developed a lot of life skills which was shown during their mini sessions they delivered. A big thank you has to go to the staff at the Centre and also ADA for the partnership working leading to a successful programme.”
