post match quotes from Buckie
After the game on Tuesday night in Buckie new signing Willo Flood spoke to media for the first time.
“I have settled in well. There are a lot of good lads in the dressing room. I also know Tony Docherty from his time at Dundee United so it has been easy for me to settle in. I am good friends with Barry Robson. I can’t get rid of him! I am baby sitter for his kids and he is baby sitter for mine! Our kids are close, our wives are close and I even think our pets are close!
“He is a good lad and a very good player so I think he is an excellent signing for Aberdeen. I look forward to playing with him for the fourth time or whatever it is! We kick each other in training but we know each other’s games inside out so that should hopefully benefit the team.
“When you look around the dressing room it is a decent squad. We do not just have a team from one to eleven. There are plenty of other good players who can come in and play. We know there is going to be competition for places but that can only be a good thing and hopefully we can have a good season.
“Pre-season has been tough. We went down to Warwick for a week and the manager brought in someone who was an expert in the Sport Science side of things. I expect pre-season to remain tough right up until the first game of the season against Kilmarnock.
“Our base fitness is good and it is now all about getting our match fitness. The only way to get match fitness is to play games so we are looking to matches which are coming up.
“On Saturday we travel up to Huntly and maybe with fewer substitutions there will be a better flow to the game. We are then going over to Dublin and we know all the games over there are going to be competitive. The teams will also try and get the ball down and pass and their players will be fit. I am sure all the team will want to prove a point against Aberdeen so as I say they will be competitive games and that is something all the lads are looking forward to.
“I am not thinking too far ahead and what we might do this season. I just want to get the season started and see what happens. The main aim is to get oursleves into the top six. Once we are in that top six we can then start looking ahead.
“I am looking forward though to the season and the challenges that lie ahead. The main reason I came here was because of the way the manager sold the club to me. He came to my house to meet me and he showed a lot of enthusiasm when talking about how he wants me to play and how he sees me fitting into the side and being part of it.
“With Derek McInnes in charge I see good things ahead for Aberdeen Football Club.”
