we're all disappointed with the performance

The Manager post-match

Stephen Robinson admitted that after a heavy week with fixtures against Rangers and Celtic, the Kilmarnock fixture was a game too far for his side. “It was a frustrating day, a tired performance. We looked jaded after the two games against Rangers and Celtic in the week. It was always the fear. We tried to freshen it up a little bit, but the performance just lacked energy. We lacked pace. “We got a reaction at half-time with the changes. There was a bit more energy, but we lacked the finishing touch and the quality needed to win the game so we got what we deserved. “Ultimately, you've got to try and win the game, so we had to make the changes. I didn't think we were going to get any more energy out of the team if we didn't make changes. We got more energy. Did we get more quality? Questionable. “It's a frustrating afternoon. The two games have caught up with us and we didn't have enough within the group to grind the result out. That point was probably a fair result but at home, we have to expect better. “We were just a little bit of lacklustre. Sometimes you're able to grind out those results, but we're all disappointed with the performance. We're not hiding away from that. We expect the criticism that we'll get. We have to deal with that. The fans are 100% right to be critical. They got behind the team really well today to try and get energy out of us. It just wasn't to be, so no complaints. “I think we need more from everybody. The players are not trying to run away from that. The staff and myself are not trying to run away from that. We need more. We had two very, very difficult tests in terms of the Sunday game and then the Wednesday game against Rangers and Celtic. It looked to me there like we just didn't have the energy to be creative. You go a little bit safe when you're tired. “We tried changing things, but everybody has to step up. We know that isn't good enough today. We know that the result isn't good enough. Sometimes you can hide that by nicking a 1-0, which we could have done, but we didn't manage to do it so we go again. “For the cup game at Kilmarnock next week, we won't have three games in the week. That helps. We don't play Rangers and Celtic within a short time, which helps. I'm expecting a lot more energy next week and a lot more confidence.”
