After impressing for the Dons in a brief cameo appearance off the bench at Ibrox on Wednesday, new signing Alexander Jensen is hoping to get a chance to make a first start in the Scottish Cup tie at Elgin City on Saturday. It might be his first week in Scotland, but he already understands just how important Saturday’s tie is.
“It was nice to get some minutes. I was not expecting that. It was a very busy couple of days, signing on Monday and then getting the work visa on Tuesday. I was not sure if I would get the go ahead to play in time. The game was very disappointing though. I got the feeling when I came on we might get something, until the two late goals.
“I was really impressed with the Aberdeen fans on Wednesday. It would mean everything to me to be a fan favourite.
“What is in the past, is in the past. We now need to look forward. Tomorrow is an opportunity to try and get back to winning way.
“I have played in the Danish and the Swedish cups in the past. I think it’s always nice to go to some places where you don’t usually go and also it’s hard when you play lower league teams. I think it’s a special environment. I am really looking forward to something similar on Saturday.
“These matches can be very difficult and you always have to take them seriously. It’s hard because when you play lower league teams because they come with everything they have for that match. For them, it’s the game of the season and put everything into it. It is exciting but hopefully just the first of many games in the competition.
“One of the reasons I wanted to come to Aberdeen was because they really wanted me. Hopefully I can help the club do well.
“During my time here, winning a trophy would mean everything. It would be so great to do that. I haven’t done that before so it’s something that I’m also striving after, to lift a trophy, and I think the cup competitions here would be a chance to do that.
“But that is in the future. We just have to focus on Saturday’s game and getting back to winning ways.”
