Skipper Graeme Shinnie produced an outstanding display as the Dons earned a 1-1 draw with Celtic at Pittodrie, and he spoke to the press after the game.
“We weren’t good enough with the ball in the first half. Our shape was reasonably good and the one time it wasn’t, they capitalised but fortunately the goal was offside. But we kept giving them the ball back and you can’t do that with Celtic. Second half, we kept it better, played with no fear, and we gave them something to think about.
“We can take confidence from this result but this season, we’ve been inconsistent, we haven’t put back-to-back performances together and we need to do that. There’s talent in the squad, we know what we’re capable of, but we haven’t shown it often enough.”
Bojan Miovski’s goal game Aberdeen the lead and Shinnie was quick to point to his importance to the side.
“I’m happy Bojan is still with us, his goals have been vitally important, but the rest of us around the team have to help him out by scoring some goals too. I should have put the chance away in the second half, but the referee told me after that it would have been ruled out for a foul. There’d have been trouble then, because I don’t think it was! I should have had more composure and put it in the corner, but it was a good save. I didn’t realise Bojan was behind me, maybe I should have left it to him!”
