Captain Graeme Shinnie spoke to Rob MacLean after the Dons win on Saturday. The skipper spoke about all the hard work that has been going on behind the scenes to implement the style of football Barry Robson wants to play.
“That is what we wanted to do going into the game. We knew we had to play with that high intensity, that is the way we are trying to play. We are trying to get on the front foot, trying to put pressure on teams, especially at home with the crowd behind us. We want to put pressure on teams and I thought in the first half we did that. I thought we were brilliant. We could have scored one or two more goals.
“There were chances for us in that second half. Hearts had more of the ball – we did not intentionally sit off but when you have a three goal lead, you do tend to take the foot off the gas just a little bit and play a bit more on the counter attack, and we did create chances doing that.
“Going into the game, the way we played, three goals, a clean sheet, three points – we would certainly have taken that. It was a good day. We move on.
“We are working nonstop.
“The manager, all the coaching staff, the backroom staff and the players, we have worked tirelessly since Barry came in to implement the style of football he and the coaches want us to play.
“I think you can see it on the pitch, it has become more evident as the games have gone on. And the results have followed.”
Graeme also pointed out, that despite the international break, there will be no let up on the training pitch.
“It’s going well but we need to keep our feet on the ground, keep looking forward and keep the level of performances high.
“We have put ourselves back in a good position, four points off third spot.
“It is a position that did not look likely when we were going through our bad spell.
“It has taken a lot of hard work to turn things around but as a team we are looking strong again. We are defending very well, just one goal conceded in the past three games which is promising, and we are taking our chances and scoring at the other end.
“We are in a good place, but we need to keep going.
“The international break probably comes at a bad time for us, especially coming off the back of a free weekend.
“We would have loved a game this weekend to keep the momentum going but we will keep working hard so we can implement our game plans and let the manager keep doing his work and we look forward to the next game.”
