“I thought we deserved at least a point.
“We never brought enough thought to our play in the first half. There was plenty of endeavour but you have to credit Inverness, they sat in, nice and compact looking to hit us on the counter and they managed to get in a couple of times.
“I still think we should deal with the goal better before the ball arrived at Polworth’s feet. We have got it all to do and in the second half we wanted to bring a bit more thought to our possession, recognise where their back line were playing. We had to try and play round about them. Before we had a chance to implement that we went 2-0 down. I thought it was a soft penalty. I don’t think Paul Quinn has done anything wrong as he has not made any move towards their player. I think he sticks his hip into him and he goes over. As I say I think it was a soft penalty. I think the referee’s view was blocked by Ryan Jack.
“We then have it all to do.
“I thought the last half hour we were terrific. We had good possession, good thought, good intensity, created plenty of chances and we had them on the ropes. I thought we maybe needed to get the first goal a little bit earlier. Another five minutes and I think we win the game. There is no doubt about that.
“The players deserve a lot for credit for it.
“I also think there should have been a penalty with the very last kick of the ball. Tremarco clearly handled the ball and stops it going to Rooney. I have seen it again on the video. And that for me was the clearest penalty of the lot of them.
“For the penalty that was given, because Inverness were so deep and they were brave with their defending but when you come out with your hands raised you always run the risk of that sort of decision. The players arm was up but whether it has struck his arm it is not entirely clear. I felt it was something our pressure and our play deserved.
“Our only thought was then to go on and win the game but we just ran out of time.
“I am disappointed we have not managed to win the game but pleased as the player’s reaction was so good we managed to get something from the match. It is always difficult when you are 2-0 down.
“Referee’s are not going to get every decision right. There was plenty of drama. Instead of talking about the referee I think we need to give praise to Inverness for their first half display. They kept us at arm’s length. There was a good shape about them. And we found it difficult to break them down.
“Considering the conditions there was a lot of good play out there.
“It was also difficult conditions for the supporters and we had over 15,000 here today. There was a lot still good about the game.
“We are just concentrating on the positives. The fact the players were relentless to make sure we took something from the game.
“We are disappointed we have not managed to win a home game. We are used to winning our games here. We went into the match in good form so we are disappointed we have not won at home but my focus is on how we finished the game. The players should not feel disappointed with themselves. We still stay unbeaten on this run that we are on and it might be an important point going forward.
“We win look forward to the next game against Partick Thistle. They had the luxury of not playing today. It was a heavy pitch as well but we will be ready for it when the match comes around. Thistle are on a good run themselves but as tough as it will be, we are at home and we should remember the way we finished this one and start that way on Wednesday.
“Willo Flood has the same bug that Andrew Considine had last week. He missed training yesterday but we got him up last night and he was feeling much better and reported ok this morning but was still not right so we had to make a late decision to leave him out at 1.00pm. He should be ok for Wednesday though.”
