Defender Gavin Molloy spoke to the media on Friday to preview the Premier Sports Cup Second Round game at Pittodrie on Saturday against Queen’s Park.

“It has been great so far. I wasn’t sure whether I would be straight in the team, but I have played every minute so far, so I am just trying to take it week in week out and take it a game as it comes. I am happy with the start, some of the wins have been really good.

“I was ready to come in and do my best, I was mid-season and some of the players had been off a couple of weeks, so my body has been battered and bruised but I am still good to go!

“I think the squad has been great. I have settled in really well and really quickly. I have done my best to help the team. Some of my performances have been good, and some I can learn from. I am still young, I am still learning, but now I am ready to kick on.

“We have been watching Queen’s Park for the last week or so. We have seen really good clips of them, we know what type of team they are. Even though they are in the league below us, they are going to bring quality, they have quality in their team.

“We saw that from the Airdrie match, when they controlled big parts of the game. We know they will be a good team.

“I think Airdrie were a bit of a surprise to me. Because I hadn’t been in Scotland long, I wasn’t sure what the different leagues are like, but they had some quality, so I am expecting the same tomorrow.

“We are expected to win. We know what we can do, and if we do that, I think we will win the game, if we show our quality and do our best. But we know we have to play well.

“The club want to do well in cup competitions. That is the clubs pedigree. We are just taking it week in week out and focus on playing our best. It is still a work in process.

“The fans have been brilliant. I think I said it before, the travelling support is brilliant. At St Johnstone they were electric, and at Pittodrie it has been an absolute fortress. They have been really good. The atmosphere at the St Mirren game last Sunday was brilliant. The fans have really come out for us, the wins help, but the fans are really getting behind us, the manager, and the process and what we are trying to build.

“You want Pittodrie to be a fortress, you want teams coming thinking it is going to be a tough game.”
