James McGarry spoke to the media on Thursday and like the rest of his team mates, he is desperate to get back out on to the pitch this weekend.
“My first Christmas in Scotland was really nice. I had family over so we had a nice time together. I enjoyed it with them. It is slightly different to what I am used to! It is obviously summer back home.
“It would have been nice to play some football but it is what it is.
“It is obviously a little bit frustrating and we would rather be playing games but we can’t control the weather and fan safety is crucial. We have to focus on what we can control, and that is the next game. We are now looking forward to playing St Mirren on Saturday.
“The boys are all raring to go. Everyone is feeling very fresh. We are excited about playing at home in front of the fans. It is a massive game and an important three points.
“We have not had too many opportunities to go onto the training pitch and work thoroughly at our tactics. We have had a good couple of sessions this week and look forward to playing now.
“We want to make our home stadium a fortress. When the fans are behind us and when they are cheering us on, it makes it hard for any team coming up here. When we score goals and celebrate as a group – players and supporters – I think that is massive and it put pressure on other teams. We want to do that on Saturday.
“The table, it is not where we want to be but, but it is still incredibly tight and we still have some catch up games which are going to come up at some point when the season kicks off again. When we play those games, we need to take the opportunity – we have to win them and get points on the board.
“But again, all we can do is focus on getting a positive result on Saturday.
“My start at Aberdeen was tough with my injury. It has been tough watching on from the sidelines. I have worked very hard to try and get myself back fit again. I was able to use that period of time that I was injured, about nine weeks, to get myself as fit as I could be. I do feel a lot stronger and can now focus on getting minutes under my belt and putting in more consistent performances. I am focussed and I am excited about the games that are coming up.”
