Ross McCrorie was full of praise for his team and the fans after the 2-0 win over Rangers at Pittodrie.
“To a man, the boys were outstanding. The gaffer gave us jobs as a team and as individuals and we stuck at it. First half, they had a lot of the ball, but we withstood it, Kelle pulled off a good save and that and the way he’s been playing since he came back gives us a lot of confidence.
“Physically as well, we were immense, we were still running right to the end and counter-attacking at pace. The gaffer is big on transitions and I think we’re very good at that. Things opened up in the second half, we got them on the counter a few times and were unlucky not to score more goals to be honest.
“This is the best group of boys in my time at Aberdeen and it was an honour to captain them today. We’ve got quality players in every position, but we’re like brothers, it’s a tight knit squad, we do things together after training, it’s a family. You can see that bond on the pitch. We celebrate together, not just goals but tackles and saves, spurring each other on.
“I felt we owed Rangers one from the games we’ve lost earlier in the season, but nobody’s getting carried away. You could feel the fans right behind us, it was the best atmosphere in my time here, but it was only three points. There’s five big games coming up and we need to focus on getting as many points as we can from them.
“We don’t look at anybody else’s results, we’re in our own shell, focusing just on us and on each game as it comes. We need to be bang at it, it’s five cup finals to go. We weren’t anywhere near it in January so from there, we’ve turned things around, we’ve been consistent. We need to carry that on.”
