Alex McLeish has selected Aberdeen skipper Graeme Shinnie and defender Scott McKenna in his squad for the summer friendlies in South America. Graeme was named in the squad for the Scotland friendly against Holland at Pittodrie but has yet to be capped by his country. Scott meanwhile was selected for the full national squad in March 2018 and made his full international debut in a 1–0 defeat against Costa Rica at Hampden then played a starring role in the victory over Hungry away from home a few days later.

Kenny McLean and Ryan Christie, who were both on loan at Pittodrie for the second half of the season, have both been rewarded for fine campaigns with call ups.
