Motherwell v Aberdeen
Aberdeen have been drawn away to Motherwell in the Quarter Finals of the Scottish League Cup.
Scottish League Cup, quarter-final draw:
Inverness v Dundee Utd
Morton v St Johnstone
Hibernian v Hearts
Ties to be played on 29/30 October.
After the draw Derek McInnes told RedWeb:
“Just like every team we would have preferred a home tie but we will just have to take what was handed to us.
“It will be a very tough game against Motherwell as they are a good side. We did though get a win at Fir Park early this season and on other occasions we have had some good results and put in some good performances away from home.
“We will also have the support of our travelling fans who have been brilliant all season and I am sure they will again go there in good numbers.
“Now the draw has been made the League Cup will very much be put on the backburner. We have some big league games coming up over the next few weeks starting with a very difficult game against St Mirren on Monday night.”
Michael Hector was representing the club at Hampden today. He spoke to RedWeb after the draw:
“It is arguably the toughest tie we could have drawn. But you look at the full draw, there are no easy games. It is difficult to predict the winners from any of the four games. We had a good result against Motherwell down there earlier in the season and that will give us confidence. Hopefully we can repeat that but we know how difficult it will be. We played well that day at Fir Park and we are going to have to put in another very good performance to get a similar result.
“I know some people are saying Aberdeen are now the favourites but I think all the teams left in the competition will feel they have a good chance of doing well. There are no favourites.
“It is a cup game. Anything can happen.
“The confidence is high at the moment. It is important to keep the momentum going that we have built up in recent weeks.”
