Dons left broken hearted in the capital
Heart of Midlothian 2 | Walker 17′, McGhee 88′ (McHattie sent off 67′)
Aberdeen 1 | McGinn 68′ (pen)
SPFL Premiership | Tynecastle Stadium | 3pm | Att: 15,218 | FT
Aberdeen lost for the second game in succession as 10 man Hearts scored a late winner to deny the visitors. Jamie Walker opened the scoring on the 17th minute when he fired past Weaver to give the home side the lead. Despite the Dons creating a series of good chances, the score line stayed the same until the 67th minute when McHattie brought down Calvin Zola inside the box. Referee Alan Muir sent the Hearts player off and awarded the Dons a penalty. Niall McGinn scored the resultant kick and the Dons continued to pile pressure on Hearts but the Tynecastle side snatched the winner on 88 minutes when McGhee headed home from a long free kick into the box. The Dons had two other penalty shouts, the first of which saw Peter Pawlett blatantly brought down in the box but referee Muir decided it wasn’t a penalty and harshly booked Pawlett for simulation. Then in the 92nd minute as the Dons pushed for another equaliser, Calvin Zola appeared to be hauled to the ground in the box but again the referee waved play on.
