Dons impress as McGinn scores a double
Aberdeen 4 | McGinn 24′, 86′, Zola 39′, Hector 63′
Partick Thistle 0
SPFL Premiership | Pittodrie | 7.45pm KO | FT
Aberdeen defeated Partick Thistle by four goals to nil at Pittodrie thanks to a double from Niall McGinn and a goal each from Michael Hector and Calvin Zola and moved back up to second in the table.
In an entertaining game the visitors deserve a lot of credit for coming out and playing football however they could not deal with a Dons side who were clinical in front of goal this evening.
The home side took the lead thanks to McGinn’s stunning 23rd minute free kick before Calvin Zola slid the ball into the net on 39 minutes after a fine worked move and a great run from Pawlett.
After the break, Michael Hector, who was back in the side this evening, scored a fantastic long range effort before McGinn got his second of the night with four minutes remaining when he fired home from Hector’s fantastic cross after another great move.
Kallum Higginbotham almost scored from the half way line after a restart but Jamie Langfield made a brilliant save. It was Jamie’s 9th cleansheet of the season and the team have also gone more than eight hours without conceding a goal at Pittodrie.
The Dons have also now won three league games in a row and will be looking to make it four when Hearts visit on Saturday.
