In Saturday’s RedMatchday Magazine we honour Andrew Considine who made his 400th appearance for Aberdeen in Dingwall and in doing so joined a very special and select group of players.

As well as an exclusive interview with Andrew there are number of one off features to mark the occasion and some special artwork from Dolly Digital.

“I knew I was getting close to making my 400th appearance last season. I knew if I played in the side this season, I would be within touching distance. When I was told before the Ross County game that it was my 400th appearance for Aberdeen, I was absolutely delighted to have made it to another milestone.

“It is a real honour and quite surreal to be on that list of seven players who have all played 400 times. They are all absolute legends of the club. I also noticed they are all goalkeepers and defenders!

“These kinds of milestones are things I will probably enjoy more once I have hung up my boots. Then I can sit back and maybe understand better what I have achieved during my career. But I do understand the significance of it and what it means in terms if this club though. If, when I was as a young boy, someone came and said to me that by the age of 30 I would have played 400 games for Aberdeen, I would have bitten their hand off.”

The first player to reach 400 appearances for the Dons was Bobby Clark. There is a special interview with Bobby who paid tribute to Andy:

Bobby Clark is delighted Andrew Considine has become only the seventh player in Aberdeen FC's history to play 400 or more games for the club after Andrew reached the magical milestone last weekend.

Legendary Dons keeper Bobby, still coaching full-time in the USA at the ripe age of 71, applauded Andrew for the effort he has put in to ensure he is now a member of a pretty select group of Reds.

“Playing 400 games for a club like Aberdeen is something Andrew can be immensely proud of,” said Bobby, who is just about to a start his 17th season as head of soccer coaching at Notre Dame University in Indiana.

“It certainly meant a lot to me to be lucky enough to achieve that.

“When I arrived from Queen's Park in 1965 as a raw 19-year-old, there were a lot of people wondering if I was up to the task, even more so because I insisted on playing part-time for the first two years because I wanted to finish my studies at Jordanhill College.

“I could never have envisaged going on to play as many games as I did and I'm sure it will have been the same for Andrew when he first went full-time at Pittodrie.

“Like I had to, he's worked hard to prove he's good enough to play regularly at the highest level, and all the more so because he's had to play under several managers during the periods when he was trying to get himself established at Pittodrie.

“Andrew has earned the rewards that have come his way.

“I'm sure Andrew going past the 400 game point is something his father, Doug, is very proud of too. Doug and I were team-mates when the Dons won the league in 1980. It will mean a lot to him to have seen Andrew follow in his footsteps by playing for the club.

“My heart was bursting with pride when my own son, Jamie, was fortunate to play for the club for a brief spell. “Doug has been fortunate to see Andrew do that and also become a League Cup winner with Aberdeen. To see him make his 400th appearance as well is something he and the whole of Andrew's family will cherish forever.”

In this weeks publication, there are also exclusive interviews with Stevie May, Jayden Stockley, Ryan Harrington and Graeme Shinnie as well as all the regular columns and features.
