In this weeks redmatchday the main interview is with Gregg Wylde.

Some careers are nice and serene, following a seemingly well manicured path from one event to another, no great alarms or excursions to ruin them or cause consternation. It’s all very straightforward.

That is not how it’s been for Gregg.

“I think everything I have been through has made me grow up quicker and I have been able to move on from it all. I am a confidence player and my confidence has been dented over the past couple of seasons but the manager has brought it back to my game, just the way he speaks to you and the way he handles you. He is very positive and I am really enjoying being at this club, enjoying my football again. It’s the ideal environment for me.

“I have enjoyed every minute of it since I’ve come in. The manager has been great, the players are a great bunch to work with and I enjoy coming into training every day. The staff are also very nice and helpful and the people in the city have made me really welcome – I am still trying to get used to the Aberdeen accent though! I have not seen a city like it. The build up to the first game of the season against Kilmarnock was incredible. If we can get some success it will be some place to be, because the support at this club is fantastic”.

“The manager said he is happy with the way I am progressing and feels I am doing ok considering I have not played much in the past season. I never really kicked a ball for a year and that is a long time for a professional footballer not to be involved. I know it will take me a bit of time for me to get back to my top form”.

Considering the quality of what we’ve seen from Gregg Wylde already, having him in full flow really should be a sight to see.

As part of a new series in r

, we will be introducing you to some of the many youngsters who have been impressing for the U20s over the past few seasons and who will hopefully be forcing their way into the first team over the coming seasons. This week, we speak to Craig Storie, one player who has already done just that.

“I was pleased to get a good run out in the Viking game. The more games I can get under my belt in the stadium the better and although it was only a friendly, there was a still a 10,000 crowd which made it feel like a competitive game. You don’t get an opportunity to play against European opposition very often, and a good side at that.

“It was very pleasing to get my first goal at Pittodrie as well and then to play a part in the victory over Partick last weekend. It is always a lot easier coming on when the team are 2-0 up! All the boys played really well and it was a good performance.

“The manager said at the start of the season that some of the young boys would get a chance and already myself, Craig Murray and Cammy Smith have been involved.

“A number of the other boys like Scott McKenna and Lawrence Shankland have been within the squad on a matchday and let’s not forget we have Declan, Stephen and Scott all out on loan, who would all be pushing to be in the squad as well. It does make it easier as a young player when you come into the first team and you have a number of your friends already there.

“It will be hard for to force my way in as there are a lot of good central midfielders. Barry, Willo and Ryan are all very good players. Barry and Willo are very good with the young boys. They spend time with you and are good at passing on advice. I will just have to bide my time and hopefully I will get a chance at some point during the season”.
