Red Matchday | Issue 7

This week in Red Matchday magazine, there is an in-depth interview with Dons keeper Kelle Roos. “I think we’ve got a great group of players and people here. I settled in really quickly when I came up here. There’s a lot of people here that helped me do that, which I’m very grateful for. I feel like it’s a very warm club and I’ve really enjoyed it so far. As much as we are a new team, I think for the fans, that is exciting, for the club to be in a new phase. I think together we can grow to another level. “I have really enjoyed playing in this league so far.

Obviously I’ve played the majority of my career in England, in the Championship and in League One and League Two. I love the nitty gritty part of football, I do enjoy the challenges of going away to teams where the fans are close to the pitch and trying to make it really hard for you to play your football. I feel like I’ve settled in pretty fast and I just want to keep doing my job as good as I can.

“For goalkeepers, things are often viewed in a pretty black and white fashion. Clean sheet – you’ve had a good game. Goals go in – you haven’t had a good game. Neither of these verdicts need necessarily be true, but that’s the modern world, not many shades of grey. It’s no wonder goalkeepers tend to be the more unusual characters at any club!

“With the goalkeepers, you look bad if you do make a mistake, more than any other player, because it usually means you lose a goal. The manager does understand that the position is difficult at times, the goalkeeper coach does the same, Joe does the same. So I think as a unit, we analyse as clinically as we can and we keep moving forward as a department.”

Also in issue 7, the AFC Family recently lost two stars from the 1950s and 60s. The AFC Former Players Association learned of the passing of Tommy Morrison and Ken Brownlee and there is a full tribute to both players in this week’s edition. Plus, a Q&A with Ylber Ramadani, all the usual features and you can collect the latest set of Red Matchday stickers!
