Tony Docherty’s reaction “I thought we showed a real mentality. It was always going to be difficult coming down here against a St Mirren team that we saw last time we were here that are fighting to get points. So we knew that it would be a difficult game and I think the term ‘winning ugly’ would probably come into it! I didn’t think we played at our best but sometimes when you are not at your best and you still manage to get that win, that’s really important from a team point of view. “I’ve seen it again- I think it was on the line [the penalty incident].

“I’ve seen it again- I think it was on the line [the penalty incident]. It was a decent call from the referee. I can understand Danny’s grievance at it but I’ve watched it back a couple of times slowed down and I thought it was right on the line.

“He’s really brought something to us [Adam Rooney]. He’s clinical but I think we’ve got players at the top end of the pitch who are clinical and with the platform they’ve got behind them of a back four and Jamie Langfield keeping clean sheets it gives us the opportunity to win games. We are really pleased with how he’s contributed.”
