After the game in Brechin Manager Derek McInnes spoke to RedTV:

“Pre-season is about getting the players fit. The games are about the players getting that match sharpness back. The boys had a tough double session yesterday and training this morning again so tonight was a test for them physically and it was a test they all came through.

“I am pleased to have come through the game without any injuries. That is always a concern with next week’s game just around the corner.

“I felt tonight we showed our attacking threat and got in amongst the goals. We had good intensity to our play. However I am not overly satisfied that we lost two goals so we have to make sure we get the balance right between showing the attacking threat that we have got in the team and making sure we are tighter defensively.

“All in all I can’t complain.

“Eight goals, the fans will have gone away home happy. It was more game time for the boys who were on the pitch. A couple of boys made their debuts and it was important for them to get that under their belts. Both Graeme and Paul showed exactly when we wanted to sign them. Both will more than prove their worth in an Aberdeen shirt.

“We had a closed doors game on Sunday and we won that 3-1. Lawrence scored and David Goodwillie got two goals so it was good to also see Adam getting in amongst the goals tonight.

“There was good combination play between a lot of the players tonight.”
