“I thought we made enough good decisions in the game. The pitch was a bit dry and we did not get much rhythm into our play in the first half. I thought when we did get it into good areas in the final third we could have scored so many more. During the 90 minutes we have hit the bar a few times, we have had a goal chopped off and umpteen chances.
“So over the next few days in training we will try and get that sharpness but sometimes you only get that from playing competitive games.
“It was another clean-sheet.
“That is three clean-sheets in three pre-season games. When you think about where we were at the back end of last season, struggling to keep clean sheets, I am pleased with how we are defending. There has been a good level of importance on that, on keeping a good shape. I think the boys have come back and are more conscious of it. Our goalkeepers have helped with that as well.
“Jason (Stockley) has now scored a couple of goals in pre-season and he has had a couple chopped off as well. He gets into good areas. He thrives off crosses.
“We still need to get used to him and need still needs to get used to us. He is used to getting the ball forward quicker than what we maybe do. He will help get us up the pitch because of his timing and because he is so good in the air. His movement is very good and he is tidy into feet as well.
“He gives us something different. With all our signings that is what you are looking for. You can’t always get better all the time. He will help us through the season in certain games.
“Anthony (O’Connor) can play right across the back four. I have seen him play in both full back positions and at centre half. I have also seen him play the centre of a back three and as a holding midfielder. That type of player is worth his weight in gold. He handles the ball well and is very comfortable with both feet. He is also very aggressive in both boxes.
“He has come here to play. We have signed him on a two-year deal. I am really pleased to get him. I think he will be a brilliant acquisition. Like Storey and Stockley he is also a very good age.”
Derek McInnes revealed that Niall McGinn will be back at the club on Tuesday.
The manager also confirmed that Callum Morris, Jonny Hayes, Ash Taylor and Kenny McLean missed the ball this afternoon as a precautionary measure. They all had slight injuries so were not risked but all four are expected to be available on Thursday night.
