“We had to work against the ball and defend well, it’s disappointing not to get the three points but the clean sheet is the positive that we can take from today.

“We obviously want to get off to winning ways in the SPFL, but the lads deserve credit for the effort they put in. It wasn't the best of games quality wise. There was a lot of effort put in.

“We defended really well, and you to have against Hearts as they like to get balls in the box. We are disappointed in the end as we should have been more clinical in front of goal.

“There wasn’t many chances today as they defend well, we maybe just needed a bit of luck for the ball to bounce our way or nestle in the back of the net but it’s disappointing.

“The most important thing for me was to get a start and try and make the most of the opportunity that I had. I thought that I did alright today but disappointed to not get an assist or a goal but it’s good to get some game time and get my fitness up, hopefully I can kick on from here.

“All the lads deserve credit as they have played a lot of games, over to Slovenia, down to Ayr and Perth last week so they deserve a lot of credit as they have been working so hard. They get a chance to get a rest now ahead of next Saturday’s game and hopefully we will be ready.”
