Peter Leven on our Scottish Cup tie with Motherwell

Peter Leven spoke to the media ahead of our Scottish Gas Scottish Cup 5th Round tie with Motherwell at Pittodrie on Saturday night.

Cup preparations

“Obviously, we were frustrated that the game didn’t go ahead on Wednesday. The amount of rain we’ve had up here has been horrendous. We’ve been training on the Astro because we can’t get on the grass pitches here. But the ground staff have been working hard to make sure we can get the game on for Saturday night.”

New players settling-in

“It’s allowed us to get some extra training in and more time on the grass, to meet the new players and help them understand how we want to play. In that sense, it’s been good.”

Managerial speculation

“It’s day by day for me, game by game. It’s obviously been in the press, but unless I’m told otherwise, I’m just taking charge.”

Challenge of Motherwell

“I had a chat with the players — it’s a great feeling to defend a trophy. There’s always an expectation to win every game at this club. Motherwell are a good side, but we’re really looking forward to it. It’s a break from the league, and hopefully the boys will be ready for tomorrow night.

“We want to bring the same intensity we showed against Livingston. The pitch will be the same for both teams, and we’ll try to do what we think is best to win the game.”
