Interim manager Peter Leven spoke to the media on Friday afternoon to preview our William Hill Premiership match with Rangers.
RedTV subscribers can watch in full now.
“We sat down on Wednesday and spoke about the Rangers game, we spoke about the positives and the things we need to get better at. The boys have responded really well. We’ve trained really well over the past two days. It’s another opportunity to show how good they are as a team.
“We need to take our chances and be better in both boxes, you saw that the other night. We had enough chances to score three or four, but that concentration in our box needs to be better.
“They are coming up here, this is our home patch, our fans will be right up for it, our fans will be right up for it. It will be a different challenge for them.”
Working with Lutz
“Lutz being in the dugout is fine by me. I don’t know why people are making a big deal out of it. We’re interim staff right now, I’m bringing up Stuart Duff and Paul Coutts while Lutz is helping out as well. For me there is absolutely no problem with it. It’s quite refreshing to be honest.”
Team News
“Adil trained today, everything looks good there. He will be in the squad.”
Transfer Update
“There is nothing to report on my side in terms of a transfer update. The scouts are here and we also have a few scouts abroad as well. They are all here for the next month with Lutz. They are working on the background with that.”
Improvements
“There are things we need to improve on. We need to be more aggressive and concentrate for the full 90 minutes. We are trying to address that.
“There are talented players here, I’ve got to find a way to get it out of them. It’s that decision making under pressure and in the right moments. We could’ve scored two in the first half and two in the second, they are good chances to take. We’ve got to put ourselves in those positions on Sunday to have the opportunity to score.
“The players know how I work now. I want to get that handbrake taken off and go and have a go. We’ve got good players to go and do that. It’s trying to get that confidence and belief back into them that they can go and get a result.
“It’s taking responsibility, it’s taking ownership. Again, sitting down and talking to them, finding the right balance and doing the basics right. We’ve spoken about it, we’ve worked on it. It’s part of football.”
Backing the squad
“I spoke to Nicolas Milanovic the other day. The change of system didn’t help him. He was brought in to be a winger, and the three at the back hasn’t helped him. He’s been training really well recently so it’s something I need to think about.”
“A goalie makes a mistake it’s a goal but nobody talks about Dimi’s save from Raskin, that was an unbelievable save, that was a world class save. Dimi is a top, top goalkeeper. He is an international goalkeeper, and we’re all behind him and have full belief he will stand up.”
