Paul Sheerin Post Match

Paul Sheerin spoke to RedTV after the 3-0 win over Inverness CT on Tuesday: “The conditions were a massive factor in the game. “I thought at times both teams struggled to get out of their half when playing into the wind. But whenever we did in the first half we showed real quality in the final third which culminated in two really good goals; in terms of our movement and the way we passed it about. “So as difficult as it was to get up the park, we still caused them a lot of problems. “Second half I thought we were comfortable in terms of the result.

Paul Sheerin spoke to RedTV after the 3-0 win over Inverness CT on Tuesday:

“The conditions were a massive factor in the game.

We were a bit slack for the first ten minutes or so and offered them a couple opportunities. But after that we controlled the game. I thought we could have had a better end product and gone and got more goals but that is probably being a bit pernickety with the performance.

“I cannot complain about the way we went about our business and we got a clean sheet which is always good for us.

“A good win in the end.

“It was difficult for the defenders with the conditions and our centre backs Harlain and Sam also had to deal with an experienced striker. I thought they dealt with the boy Fisher relatively well. Seb played at right back which is not a natural position for him but we played Seb there because we thought his use of the ball would suit us a bit more. And Toby in the other full back spot was solid so it was pleasing for them, a young back four with Robbie behind them, to get the clean sheet.

“I thought in general the younger ones were good. I thought Dylan who has not played a lot of football recently was great in the middle of the park. Scott and Frank were very positive when in possession as they always are, then on top of that you have the experienced players – Jayden, Miles and Peter who all wanted to do their work. They are a credit to themselves the way they go about their business.

“Since I have been at the club I have not had any issues with first team players coming in. It is minutes for them and a bit of work as opposed to training. As a player I used to always prefer that.

“It is good for Harlain just to get a run of games. He obviously struggled with his registration at the tail end of last season and then at the start of this campaign he suffered an ankle injury in the game against Benfica during the pre-season tour. So to get him back is brilliant. We just look more solid with him in the team. Granted for the past month we have worked relentlessly on the training pitch with the back four, that includes Sam Robertson and Joe MacPherson, and we are seeing the benefits of that hard work.

“Harlain is certainly a presence and I am sure centre forwards look around and think they have a long afternoon ahead of them! He has been great and as I say for him to get a good run of games is massive so hopefully he can continue to get that between now and the end of the season.

“The only negative was the injury to Bruce Anderson. Hopefully it will be nothing too serious.”
