The Dons travel out to Greece on Wednesday for their fourth UEFA Conference Group game, the return fixture against PAOK. They go there buoyed by the victory over Hibs at Hampden last Saturday, but as Leighton Clarkson says, everything now is focused on the game in hand.

“It was great to win on Saturday, but we won’t think about the cup final until the game comes around. We’re only interested in the PAOK game now. We’re all really excited about going there and playing our game. We’re going there to try to win because they’re a really good team, but we also know we can hurt them as well. We need to stay in the game for as long as possible. That’s what we’ve done in all the Conference group games, we’ve been really competitive.

“The home game against PAOK was a strange one because we felt comfortable. Football can change so quickly. I had just literally just come on, and I was trying to get in the game and before you know it, Richie slips and there’s nothing you can do about it. That moment of luck that went their way at that point, it let them back into the game. Even then 2-0 up to anybody with 20 minutes left, we should be seeing that out but unfortunately, we couldn’t. We were all gutted afterwards, because we felt like we were comfortable.

“It’s just about cutting out maybe little mistakes, because the big teams do punish you. We need to try not to let them get in behind you, keep them keep them in front of you, and maybe try and transition on them or get a set piece. There’s loads of different ways to try and win a football match. Little mistakes, fine margins, you get punished. A lot of us haven’t experienced that kind of opposition too often and that’s something we need to try and learn from and add into our game, going into league and cup games.”
