This Saturday sees The Dons return to Pittodrie for the Ladbrokes Premiership clash with St Johnstone. Aberdeen have a superior overall record against the team from Perth, but Saints did get the upper hand the last time the sides met at Pittodrie. All the games last season were close affairs, with a 0-0 draw on the opening day of the season at McDiarmid Park. The Dons won the Betfred Cup quarter final thanks to a late Adam Rooney header in September before another goalless draw at Pittodrie in December.

This Saturday sees The Dons return to Pittodrie for the Ladbrokes Premiership clash with St Johnstone. Aberdeen have a superior overall record against the team from Perth, but Saints did get the upper hand the last time the sides met at Pittodrie.

All the games last season were close affairs, with a 0-0 draw on the opening day of the season at McDiarmid Park. The Dons won the Betfred Cup quarter final thanks to a late Adam Rooney header in September before another goalless draw at Pittodrie in December. Aberdeen were in excellent form during the second half of the season and won 2-1 in Perth in April, which went a long way in ensuring The Dons would finish runners-up.   In all, there have been 65 league games between the sides at Pittodrie, with 31 of those being Aberdeen victories.     Overall Record v St Johnstone

Record v St Johnstone at Pittodrie

The first ever game ended in a win for St Johnstone in 1925, but they would fail to register another victory in the Granite City for another 39 years. The last league win against the Saints at Pittodrie was on New Year’s Day 2015, when goals from David Goodwillie and Cammy Smith sent the Dons to the top of the league.     Milestones   There are also some milestones that can be reached for the current crop of Dons players this Saturday at Pittodrie.   If selected:

  • Andy Considine will equal former captain Russell Anderson’s appearance total of 407 appearances for AFC (371 starts plus 35 as a substitute) which is joint 6th in the all-time list.

  • Kenny McLean will make his 300th senior club appearance (currently 264 starts, 45 as a substitute)

  • Former Saint’s player, Stevie May will make his 200th senior club appearance (currently 154 starts with 35 as a substitute)
