After Aberdeen’s game at Ibrox on Tuesday night, Nicky Devlin reflected on the first couple of days under new manager Neil Warnock.

“We’ve not had much chance to work with the new manager yet. He only cane in yesterday and we had the session before we travelled down, but he’s been good so far.

“Everyone knows exactly who he is and what he’s done, he’s had a fantastic career down the road, so I think everyone is excited to work with him. There’s nobody more experienced than him, so we can all learn from him, especially the younger boys in the squad.

“He came to Ibrox wanting us to win, simple as that. At half-time, he was talking about getting at Rangers higher up the pitch and we did some of that and created a little bit more. Over the next few days and weeks, we’ll get more time on the training ground and he’ll get his points across more.

“I think with him being here for the rest of the season, that puts us in a good place. Everybody knows exactly what’s happening, we’ve got that clarity and that’s helpful for all of us.

“Parts of the performance were good and there were other areas where we need to be better. I thought we defended pretty well but when we had the ball, we didn’t show enough quality going forward to hurt Rangers often enough. It’s disappointing because with the position we’re in in the league, we need to start picking up points.

“That consistency has been our biggest problem. We’ve competed really well in some games, especially in Europe, but too often we haven’t been good enough in league games. We’ve got a run of three home games coming up, and we start to need winning those.”
