Nicky was the player who spoke to the media on Tuesday to preview the cinch Premiership fixture against Livingston.
“Sunday was probably the perfect day, a cleansheet, some good goals and then young Fletcher coming on and scoring on his debut, topping it all off. It was another good performance. We have been winning a lot of games 1-0 recently but we have been missing chances, so for the game against Hibs to go the way it did, was a very good day.
“I remember my senior debut, think I scored an own goal after about a minute! Dumbarton v Stenhousemuir. So Fletcher’s went a lot better than mine! Most players remember their first game. Hopefully he can kick on from here.
“It is an important thing for a club like Aberdeen. We have to keep producing players from the academy. Fletcher has done brilliantly for the U18s, and when he has trained with the first team – as have many of them. He is the one who has been given the opportunity just now, I think there will be a few more who are ready to step up.
“In general, if the team are winning it is a lot more enjoyable playing. Ultimately we have not won enough games this year, that is why we are in the position we are in. But since Peter has taken over, it has been excellent. Everyone can see there have been a lot of changes – change of style and a change of results which is the main thing. So everyone is enjoying playing at the moment.
“It is a real positive Peter is staying here. He gets on well with everyone in the dressing room.
“Every manager has a different style they want to play, but the way Peter has us playing, we are creating chances and not conceding goals. Hopefully it is pleasing for the fans. The season is going to finish sooner than we would have liked when it is going like this but that is football. When you are winning you want to keep playing.
“When we were in the bottom six we said that we wanted to win five games. We wanted to finish seventh. Seventh spot is not good enough for this club but it the best we can now do this season so we have to make sure we do that. We want to make it four wins out of four.”
