A fresh start in Scotland
“It’s a new chapter for me. It’s a big league, a big team. It’s, I think, the biggest team of my career so far, so I’m excited to start this new challenge.
“It’s a big step forward for me in this team, in this club. It’s a massive step forward. I have ups and downs in my career so far, but it’s part of the journey. So as a footballer, and I think in life also, we all have ups and downs, and I hope that now it’s going to be all good for me and the team as well.”
Travelling the world
“I will say because of the education that my parents gave me. I’m a confident person, and I think to discover many countries is also a big challenge for a young man like me, and I’m excited to discover this new country that is Scotland.”
Oday Dabbagh
“Sadly I didn’t speak to him because we are not so much in contact anymore, but when he was in Charleroi with me, he was a very, very good guy. But when I saw I was going to sign for Aberdeen and I saw Oday was in the team, I was like, okay, it’s nice to see someone I know, but he left. I wish him all the best in his new challenge.
Greatest strengths
“Whatever the coach wants me to play [preferred position]. I will play where the coach tells me to play. If I have to play up front, I will play up front. If it’s left, I play left. If it’s right, if it’s on the bench, I will be on the bench. So, the coach has the last decision. He’s the boss.
“I can bring what I can do the best on the pitch. Running, runs, speed, my left foot. If it’s in front, I can disturb the defence with my pace, and my generosity also on the pitch when I have to defend, help the team when we are in a low block, so I can give all my best on the pitch.”
Aim for the season
“Play as many games as I can, to help the team, to help myself also, to discover this new league, this new challenge for me. Personally, I don’t have [targets], I just want to give my best on the pitch and make the fans happy.
Scottish connections
“One of my best friends, he’s playing for Celtic, Balikwisha. So he told me about the league, about Aberdeen. He told me it is a big step for me, a big team in the league. I’ve played with Nicolas Raskin also in the youth team in Belgium, also at Standard Liège when we were younger, so I spoke to both of them.
“It is a big step for me because I was playing in a second league in Switzerland. So now we’re playing for a first league, big team. So they told me, don’t hesitate and just go and do your best.
The challenge
Like I said before, it’s a new challenge. It’s a new step, a new country. I will have to adapt. That’s for sure, like many other players have been in the team before. But I think it will be a good step and a good challenge for me.”
