Manager Barry Robson spoke to the media on Thursday to preview the cinch Premiership game against St Mirren at Pittodrie on Saturday.

“Everyone was disappointed yesterday (with the postponement), we wanted to build some momentum, wanted to get our third win in the league. We were well prepared and had done all our work. Everyone is desperate for the games to go ahead but when you then see roads getting closed, and you have families travelling to games together, I think the sensible decision was made. The safety of the supporters is more important.

“We actually went out last night and trained at Cormack Park under the lights when the weather had settled down. We had another session today and will get one on Friday. That will be the first time we have trained three days in a row, for about four months. So that has been good. But we would far rather the games had gone ahead.

“We will now have a busy fixture schedule, after what we experienced in the first half of the campaign, hopefully that will stand us in good stead. We always knew it would be a difficult season with a lot of games.

“We have had a look at the scheduling. I sat with Steven Gunn and Alan Burrows yesterday and looked at some dates. Whenever the games are replayed, it will be a busy second half to the season but that is ok, we want to go and play games.

“St Mirren is always a tough game. They are a good side, always well organised. They had a disappointing result last night, but I am sure they will be fired up for the game on Saturday. We know what is coming, we know what to expect. We need to try and bring our ‘A’ game so we can put in a good performance, and if we do that then hopefully it will be enough to win the game.

“There has been times this season where we need to be better. We understand that. There has also been times that we have performed really well. Trying to get into a rhythm of consistency has been hard when you have a league game, then a cup game, then a European game before going back to a cup game. We have tried to learn from all that. And we have tried to get better at all that. It has been a challenge for us but everyone at the club, including all the staff have learned loads. We now need to kick on from here.

“Team news, we have everyone back. We have Jack MacKenzie back training with the squad but he is one we are being careful with. He is not a player I want to rush back. We will see how he is after training today.”

Finally, the manager was asked about the January transfer window which opens in a couple of days.

“Just like any other club, if there is an area where we can strengthen, then we will look at that. If there is quality out there, we are always looking.

“We did do a lot of business in the summer, that was the main bulk of business that we needed to do. We took in some good players. So there are things we will look at but we will not need to scramble about and sign a lot of players.

“With Bojan, he enjoys playing here. The way we play, I think it suits him. He has really improved this last year as a player, we have worked hard on his game with him. You can see the runs he is making, forward, diagonal and runs in behind, it is getting him goals. He is in a good place at the moment.

“I still think there is a lot of improvement in him, and I think he can go on and bang in a lot more goals in during the back end of the season, and I am sure that is what he is focussed on as well.”
