Experienced goalkeeper Marius Müller has joined the Dons from Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg.

The 33-year-old German has signed a two-year deal, subject to international clearance.

Marius arrives after enjoying an impressive career in Germany and Switzerland and becomes the latest addition to Stephen Robinson’s new-look squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Dons boss Stephen Robinson said: “Marius is an experienced goalkeeper who has consistently performed at a high level throughout his career.

“He’ll add real competition, experience and leadership to our goalkeeping group. We believe his character and professionalism will be a real asset to the squad, both on and off the pitch.”

A product of the renowned 1. FC Kaiserslautern academy, Marius also enjoyed spells in Germany with RB Leipzig and FC Schalke 04.

However, the 6ft 3in stopper’s most successful spell came in the Swiss Super League with FC Luzern, where he made 139 appearances and kept 33 clean sheets over a four-year period.

He was also part of the 2021 Swiss Cup-winning side, as Luzern defeated FC St. Gallen to lift the trophy for the first time in 29 years.

His consistently impressive performances in Switzerland earned him a return to the Bundesliga in 2023, when he joined VfL Wolfsburg, where he continued to compete at the highest level of the German game.

Having arrived in Aberdeen last night, Marius is looking forward to meeting his new team-mates at Cormack Park.

He said: “It feels nice to be here. It’s all moved very quickly, but I’m happy to be in Scotland.

“Of course, I know Lutz well and when I spoke to both him and Craig Hinchliffe about joining Aberdeen, it sounded like an exciting move. I also spoke with Denis Geiger about it and he only had good things to say about the Club.

“I hope to bring quality to the team through my experience and mentality. As a goalkeeper, you know the moments when you have to stay calm and help to lead the team.

“We have to be one team – the players and the supporters in the stands. I hope they will see that I will give my all. They will see that I love to celebrate with them.

“I want to see a lot of fireworks this season. I hope we have plenty to celebrate and we’ll see what the season brings.”

Everyone at Aberdeen Football Club would like to welcome Marius and his family to Aberdeen and wish him every success with the Dons.
