REDTV | From the Dugout | to watch please click here The Manager sat down for his weekly chat to RedTV on Tuesday:

“I was not aware that it was my 100th game until yesterday when someone told me. The time has gone quite quickly.

“The good thing is that we are going into Saturday feeling confident. The players deserve a lot of credit for the way they have managed to find their form. Collectively, as a team we have been far more like ourselves. It’s important that we try and build on that. We have to take the performances of late into the match and try and get another three points to add to the ones we have just collected. It was good to get the win against Hearts. We expected a tough match and that is exactly what we got.

“The injury news is good. The boys are fine. Mark Reynolds trained on Monday, Graeme Shinnie was fine as well, he trained on Monday too. The problem with Mark was that we could not get the bleeding to stop. We did not want to put him back on the pitch, only for him to come off again. He has a broken nose but now he looks like a proper centre half! A few more of them and he will start looking like Russell Anderson!

“Graeme had a few stiches to his head but he’s ok. We are also hopeful Niall will be able to train at the back end of the week. Barry Robson has done a lot of training with John Sharp on the training pitch as well. We think Saturday will come too soon for him, but he is certainly going the right way. I would not anticipate him missing too many more games.

“The festive period is very important to us.

“There is a lot going on at this time of year but being professionals we really need to knuckle down. We always feel the teams with the concentration and the focus do well. Hopefully we will get the reward for that.

“There are some good games for us. Although the games come thick and fast, I still think they have been evenly spread out. After Kilmarnock, we have two home games so it is important we try and get as many points as possible over the next few matches.

“It is maybe slightly unusual to have two home games between Christmas and New Year. Those two home games could be very important to us. Traditionally there is a good crowd for the Boxing Day fixture. With people on holiday and supporters maybe returning to the area over Christmas, hopefully they will come along to the games. Hopefully also we will go into that game on the back of a good result against Kilmarnock.

“We like playing at home, we are strong at home and with a healthy backing behind us, we can do well.

“But our concentration at the moment is fully on Kilmarnock.

“We will prepare for the game by training on astro this week, but we’re just doing that the once. I have to stress that every artificial surface I have come across is different, so it is difficult to really replicate what you are going to get. The players have had some good performances on plastic pitches in recent years. They had two good wins at Rugby Park with two very good performances last season, so it will have no bearing on our performance. A lot of the players like playing on it. Hopefully we will get a similar outcome.

“Kilmarnock have shown this season that they have some decent players and they can mix it with the best in the league. Gary Locke is just trying to find that consistency at the moment to get them moving up the table. They have had a couple of good results against Celtic and they have also had a couple of other very decent results this season. Although they had a disappointing result at Inverness, their second half performance might have got them something from the game.

“I expect a tough match. I expect them to come out fighting and I am sure that will show in their performance. We have to make sure we are ready and concentrate on ourselves and hopefully get the win we are looking for.”
