Jonny Hayes was the player who spoke to the press this week to preview the cinch Premiership fixture on Sunday.
“You know you’ve got the majority of the crowd backing you. I think you’ve seen in recent years when we’ve had good results against better teams that the crowd does play its part. It’s something you do notice when there’s an extra four or five thousand in and it does give you that lift if there’s a little lull in the game and the noise of the crowd spurs you on.
“It does definitely help but with Aberdeen v Rangers games historically the atmosphere’s have been good at them so it’s something to enjoy from a playing point of view.
“Unfortunately with the international break coming after a result like that you’ve got a couple of weeks to stew on it and you can’t wait for the next game to come around.
“We are obviously looking forward to another game now and the start of a very busy period for ourselves on Sunday so we’ve prepared for that this week and we’re looking forward to getting out there. Part of your personal pride and the pride in the team is that after that previous result you want to go out and put on a better performance and look to get a better result.
“Regardless of the opposition the mindset means you look forward to the next game to try and right your wrongs.
“It is a difficult game as they all are and we’ve not had an easy game this year.
“But on Sunday it’s a game we’re certainly looking forward to with a big crowd and a good atmosphere, and hopefully it’s one to savour.
“No two fixtures are alike. I even remember going through spells where you play the same teams two or three times in a row but every game was different.
“Every manager will have his different style, in or out of possession, and that’s where our coaching staff do their homework and provide us with key information on the training pitch to go and combat that and give us a platform to try and win the game.
“If there are any tweaks in how Rangers play and what they do, I’m sure the coaching staff will be aware and try and prepare us as best we can to go out and win the game.
“There are 12 games in the next five weeks so it’s one game at a time. You can’t even look to next week let alone in a month so we’re fully focused on Sunday and after that we’ll prepare for the next game.
“We know we can win games, be sound defensively and have a good structure, and that gives us a base to go and win games and perform well in them.”
