Jimmy Thelin had no complaints about the result at McDiarmid Park as the Dons returned home with a point from a 0-0 draw.

“I think the result was fair. You have to adapt to the conditions. You can’t have an excuse about the pitch. It still is a game and you have to find solutions for the circumstances we have.

“I think both teams defended well. It was two teams who fought for three points, so we got a quite close game. We tried, but today we didn’t have the quality to break through or create that big chance, but it’s also because they defended well.

“We tried to push, tried to create more crossing situations. In these moments when maybe the team didn’t find the rhythm in the attacking last third, someone needs to have the quality to step forward, but it’s not always easy.

That’s why the game got so stuck today, but also how they defended, it’s another team on the pitch also. Dimi did an amazing save in the first half, so I think it was a level game.

“Of course we wanted more from it for the away support, we want to give them more. They also pushed us to try, but the quality was not really there today.

“We know where we are on the table and how important the points are. We know how tight it is now we have an important game against Motherwell after the international break. We have to win, we know that and that’s what we were trying to do. But today we didn’t have that quality to take the three points.

“Hopefully it’s going to be a good point at the end of the season.”
