“I thought to be fair to Kilmarnock today they were really well organised.
“They were a lot tougher opponents than the two previous times we have played them this season. They were tough to break down and got a goal with a deflection that took the ball past Joe.
“I think when I got my shirt ripped in half it was a penalty. I don’t think the referee was looking at me otherwise I think I would have got a penalty. Then at the other end I did my shoulder and was eating the Astroturf so did not really know much about that one to be honest. I was keen to stay on and help the team.
“For the goal I saw Miles holding Rooney off and there was a bit of confusion between Miles and the goalkeeper and I managed to sneak in there. It was a nice little poachers finish. I was really happy with that one. “You have to rely on the strength of the squad sometimes and thankfully Pete and I were able to come on change it.
“Coming off the bench is not ideal for me personally but if it helps the team then that is all that matters. We have a lot of players fighting for a place in the starting XI and I am no different. I am desperate to play every minute.
“Opportunities are there for some of the lads to come off the bench.
“We have a lot of good players sitting on the bench who did not get on. Therefore, it makes it even more important to take your chance when it comes along. Peter and I did that today. I have done it a couple of times in the past. Everyone is wanting a place in the starting XI which is healthy for the club.
“The gaffer chooses his side and then chooses when to make the changes. A lot of things come into it.
“The team were struggling more today than they have been recently. Against Motherwell we were brilliant and everything was going for us but that was not the case today. You get these games throughout the season and sometimes you don’t get the three points and you are feel feeling angry.
“Today as much as we are disappointed with the performance we are ecstatic with the win.
“No matter how good you are, not everything is going to go your own way. You want to do it right obviously but you get a lot of satisfaction from winning these types of games.
“I don’t think the player’s belief and attitude has been in question at any point during the season. The lads are brilliant here. We have much more than that though in the dressing room. There is so much quality and depth of quality.
“We are desperate to win and desperate to get that second spot. We are showing everyone that we are hitting some really good form.
“We have gone on a few good runs this season and we are on one at the moment. That is nine wins out of ten. The only defeat came against Celtic and we went down their confidant we could get something. The team has bounced back and put in good performance after good performance. We did not do that today but as I say when we are not at our best but still get the three points there is a satisfaction in that as well.
“We have to be confident within ourselves. We have to take confidence from how we are playing and realise what a great run we are on. If we can extend that and carry it on till the end of the season then we will achieve what we want to.”
