Inverness CT Preview | Niall McGinn

“Some of the memories I have on the international stage, I’ll remember for the rest of my life. Going to the Euros and to reach 50 caps, all in all 2016, it has been a great year for me. “Now though I’ve just got to put it in the backburner. “Some of the memories I have on the international stage, I’ll remember for the rest of my life. Going to the Euros and to reach 50 caps, all in all 2016, it has been a great year for me.

“Now though I’ve just got to put it in the backburner. I’m back to my bread and butter now, back to Aberdeen and want to keep enjoying my football.

“We’ve got a big game next week and big game this weekend as well.

“Inverness is always a tough game. They started the season slowly but the last number of weeks they’ve been doing well and picked up a few good results so whether your home or away to Inverness its always going to be a tough game.

“We know with most teams when they come here they lift their game and put on a performance and try to silence the crowd. We know going away to Inverness its always going to be tough but after the result against Partick the boys are on a high and they’ve been training well this week and now we want to kick on and it would be nice to get a result on Saturday which would set us up nicely for the cup final.

“It’s about maintaining the momentum from the Partick game. The boys were first class on the night and we took our chances when they came along. It was an important three points.

“Saturday will be a tough game but we want to go there and get the right result and if we can do that it will set us up nicely for next week and we know how tough next week is going to be but it’s a game we all want to be involved in. As a professional footballer a cup final doesn’t come around too often; we’ve been there before and had a taste of it so we’ll look forward to it when it comes but the most important thing right now is this Saturday and we’ll look forward to that.

“Personally, it has been a bit hectic for myself but I wouldn’t change it for the world – having a chance to play and score in the Euros, as I say internationally it has been unbelievable for me and I’ve had a chance to play European football again, the last couple of seasons I have done that which has been good and with a club like Aberdeen you’re here to play European football, you’re here to play in big games. As long as there are still big games coming I’m still be enjoying my football.

“The winter break will come at a nice time for me and I’ll look forward to resting up then but more importantly we’ve got a busy November and December coming up as well so games are coming thick and fast. We’ve got a good squad of players here so I’m sure the manager will rearrange his team. He will see who’s right for each game and it’s all games we want to be involved in but more importantly its games we want to enjoy and you enjoy games by winning them.

“When any cup final comes round there’s always a challenge for places. We’ve got a good squad of players and the effort the players have shown in recent months has been good. In the last couple of week’s performance wise I think we have picking up. So all in all everyone is in a good mindset at the moment and hopefully we can continue that with a good result in Inverness.

“We just want to bring everything together and just want to keep moving forward. Thankfully we have been doing that.”
