The class of 2007 Half time match: AFC Legends v Fans Team
At half-time on Sunday we welcome back onto the hallowed turf some of our finest ever players. In 2006/07 under Jimmy Calderwood, Aberdeen finished third in the league after a tremendous season, culminating in a 2-0 win over Rangers on the final day of the season which secured European qualification. The 2007/08 season will go down in history as one of Aberdeen’s finest. What the club achieved that year should never be forgotten as the Dons players rubbed shoulders with some of the world’s best. It all began with a special night in Dnipro that will rank up there among Aberdeen’s and Jamie Langfield’s finest hours. On Sunday we will celebrate that night in the Ukraine.
Managed by Jimmy Calderwood, Jamie will be joined on the field at half time by some of his teammates from 2007:
Michael Hart, Scott Severin, Lee Miller, Darren Mackie, Steve Lovell, Chris Clark, Lee Mair, Derek Young and Russell Anderson
They will be playing against a fans team.
The Jamie Langfield Committee would like to thank all the players for taking part and Chairman Ian McIntosh says, “It’s fantastic that these guys are able to pull the strip on for Jamie and to realise a personal dream of playing on the hallowed ground. Also it’s unbelievable that two of the fans, Donald Cross and Dr. Gregor Reid are travelling thousands of miles to be part of Jamie’s Testimonial – a supreme effort guys, thanks again!”
