Festive cheer for local charity

Former Player Association (FPA), Aberdeen FC and Aberdeen FC Community Trust have joined forces to support local charity, AberNecessities this Christmas.

In an initiative led by Steven Tosh, former Aberdeen midfielder, the FPA have appointed AberNecessities their chosen charity for the forthcoming year and this donation marks the first of their supporting efforts.

‘We felt it was a timely and powerful message, for former professional players and the local professional football club with an award-winning football trust, to work together and send a real message of support to those in need at Christmas time.

‘AberNecessities is an amazing local charity, making real difference to peoples lives, and we’re honoured to play a small part in that.’

A cash donation from the FPA, along with Aberdeen FC branded gifts supplied by AFCCT, Paw Patrol family tickets and toys from local brand agency and AFCCT ambassadors Imajica and the P&J Live, along with 10 season tickets through AFC’s Aberdeen for All initiative were presented to Danielle Flecher-Horn from AberNecessities at Pittodrie earlier this week.

‘It’s heart-breaking that a charity such as AberNecessities needs to exist in the first place in Aberdeen. If gestures like these can help them make a difference, especially at this time of year, then I would encourage everyone to find a way to get involved.’ – Jeff Riley Imajica Brand Evolution M.D.

‘AberNecessities aim is to support local, underprivileged families with the essential items that they need to care for their babies and children.

With the FPA giving us their backing, we are able to help even more families in Aberdeen and help alleviate the pressures of raising a family with extremely limited resources.

‘It’s fantastic to see Aberdeen FC take such a proactive approach to helping the local community. We believe every child deserves the very best start in life and the FPA are helping us make this possible with their brilliant support which we appreciate immensely.”

Steven Sweeney, Chief Operating Officer at AFCCT, added;

‘Aberdeen FC is a club that cares passionately about people, there is a genuine family feeling and that is why we are determined to take our responsibility to our communities seriously; supporting something like this with the FPA is a-given for us. It’s simple, our approach is just about good people doing their best to make a difference.’
